Hornet™ installs from outside your HVAC unit—no need to open equipment to get going or to change the lamp. Hornet’s lamp and lamp socket are water-resistant, shock-resistant, and built to last. Its low voltage wiring meets all codes, limits the danger of shock or fire, and can be mounted almost anywhere. A built-in lamp indicator or “light-pipe” quickly confirms proper operation by displaying the trademark “blue” light generated by all UV-C lamps.

What’s in the box:

The Hornet comes complete with everything required for quick and straightforward installation, including:
• 24V Hornet™ Power Supply
• 17” Low Mercury Lamp (option to substitute a 12” lamp)
• Mounting Ring (for rigid ductwork/sheet metal)
• Mounting Support Plate (for soft/flexible ductwork)
• 24V Wall Adapter (120-24V) with 6’ cord
• 2 7/8-inch Hole Saw
• Safety sticker

Installation:

The Hornet easily installs on the exterior of the HVAC plenum, and its lamp projects into the airstream — so there is no need to open the system to install the fixture or change its lamp. Moreover, because the unit mounts from outside the system, you don’t have to reconfigure any ductwork, making the install very quick and clean.

If you’re mechanically inclined enough to own a drill and a Phillips head screwdriver, you can install this fixture. The Hornet can be hard-wired or the included 24 Volt wall adapter can be plugged into any standard 120V outlet.

Annual Maintenance:

The replacement cost for the lamps (which should be changed annually) is around $40 for the 17” lamp and $21 for the 12” lamp.

Cost to Operate:

The 17” lamp operates at 20-watts, so the overall power consumption would be approximately 180 kWh/yr ($16.20/yr at $0.09/kWh). The 12” lamp operates at 16-watts, or 144 kWh/yr ($12.96/yr).

“Wanted to let you know that the UV Resources Hornet system solved my dirty-sock syndrome odor coming from my HVAC system. It took several weeks for the UV light to kill everything on the evaporator coils.

I already had a hole in the plenum for a plasma generator that didn’t fix the issue, so the DIY installation was very easy. I am so happy this problem is solved.”
